The round gilt surround is cast with a band of leaves and flowers and crowned by a laurel wreath tied with a fluttering ribbon bow. From the bow, garlands of husks swag down to each side and end in pendant drops, and a matching garland hangs beneath, so the whole frame has the graceful symmetry of the Louis XVI style.

Inside, a warm wood ring frames a round opening finished with a beaded gilt bezel. It currently holds a woven floral textile, and it would be just as lovely with a miniature portrait, a small photograph or a treasured piece of embroidery. Hang it on its own or add it to a gallery wall of small gilt frames.

Details

Origin: France
Period: Late 19th to early 20th century
Material: Gilt bronze, mahogany wood mount
Style: Louis XVI style
Form: Round frame with laurel wreath and ribbon cresting, husk garland swags and pendant drops
Approximate Measurements

Height including cresting: 7.25"
Frame diameter: 3.5"
Aperture diameter: 2"

Condition

Very good antique condition with light wear to the gilding.
