Antique French Jeweled Opaline Decanters, c. 1880–1900

An exceptional decanter of late 19th-century French white opaline decanters or scent bottles, beautifully embellished with applied emerald-green glass cabochons and hand-painted gilt decoration.

Each bottle features a softly luminous white opaline body with an elegant rounded form, slender neck, broad disc-form rim, and original pointed teardrop stopper. Applied emerald-green cabochons are scattered across the opaline and individually framed with gilt detailing and delicate gold accents. The matching stoppers repeat the jeweled decoration.

The contrast between the milky white opaline, brilliant emerald cabochons, and warm gilding gives this pair an extraordinary jewel-like quality. Displayed together, they are a striking example of the richly decorative French glass produced during the late 19th century.
