A beautifully preserved Victorian edition of The Life of Arthur Duke of Wellington by G. R. Gleig, published in London by Longmans, Green, Reader, and Dyer in 1871.
Bound in deep blue leather with gilt detailing and decorative crest to the front cover bearing the Latin motto Præmia Laborum (“Rewards of Labor”), this volume features richly marbled endpapers and marbled page edges throughout. The book retains its original school prize inscription dated 1874, adding a wonderful layer of provenance and historical character.
