A spectacular mid-century Florentine decorative tray by Florentia of Italy, retaining its original maker’s label.
Measuring an impressive 17.5 inches across, the tray is beautifully finished in rich emerald green, warm russet and extensive antiqued gold. An elaborate raised floral bouquet commands the center, surrounded by scrolling gilt ornament and framed by a wonderfully sculptural scalloped border inspired by the exuberant forms of the Italian Rococo.
The combination of deep jewel-toned color and aged gilding is particularly striking. Rather than appearing overly bright or new, the finish has the wonderfully layered character associated with traditional Florentine decorative work.
Beautiful displayed upright as a decorative object, layered into a collected interior, or used horizontally on a table or ottoman. Its generous scale gives it considerably more presence than the smaller Florentine trays more commonly encountered.
Retains the original Florentia “A Decorative Craft – Hand Made in Italy” label on the reverse.
